This very fragmented industry is dominated by small and founder-owned businesses; our strategy is to execute significant organic growth initiatives and M&A – while building out best-in-class professional departments like Finance and Accounting at the Partner Services level (but execute the function locally, where possible). The right candidate will have leadership impact and visibility across the organization and be part of active, strategic conversations with senior executives including our CAO, CFO, and senior leadership team.  

 

Job Title: Payroll Clerk 

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite) 

Base Salary: $22-$28 / hr 

 

Position Summary 

The Payroll Clerk provides critical administrative support to the payroll function, ensuring timely handling of mail, document uploads, garnishment coordination, and ticket resolution. This role helps maintain compliance, improve turnaround times, and free up senior payroll staff for strategic tasks. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Mail Management (10 hrs/week): 
    Open, sort, and distribute all incoming mail at the Dallas office to ensure timely processing of payroll-related documents. 
  • Document Uploads (10 hrs/week): 
    Scan and upload garnishment orders and tax notices into ADP SmartCompliance for centralized tracking. 
  • Garnishment Coordination (10 hrs/week): 
    Partner with Payroll Tax Specialist and Employee Services to resolve garnishment issues in compliance with federal and state regulations. 
  • Zendesk Support (10 hrs/week): 
    Respond to payroll-related tickets, escalate complex issues, and ensure timely resolution. 

 

Expected Outcomes (First 12 Months) 

  • Upload 100% of garnishment and tax notices within 24 hours of receipt. 
  • Zero missed deadlines for garnishment processing or tax notice resolution. 
  • Reduce garnishment turnaround time to 1 business day. 
  • Free up 20+ hours/week of senior payroll staff time through proactive support. 
  • No compliance violations related to garnishment or tax notice handling.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and correct errors before they impact compliance. 
  • Timeliness & Task Ownership: Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Communication & Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams and explaining payroll processes clearly. 
  • Compliance & Confidentiality Awareness: Understanding of legal timelines and secure handling of sensitive data.
