Market Area Chief of Staff
Location: Midwest Plains Market
We’re looking for a highly organized, results-driven Chief of Staff to partner with the Market Area President and General Managers in driving operational excellence across the Midwest Plains market.
This role is responsible for overseeing and consolidating market-wide operations, ensuring efficient systems and creating alignment between call center, dispatch, HR, IT, accounting and M&A integration. Acting as both a strategic partner and an execution leader, the Chief of Staff will be a force multiplier for the Market Area President and a trusted resource for General Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily performance of market staff across call center, dispatch, accounting, safety, fleet, and administrative support.
- Ensure systems and processes run smoothly to drive business performance.
- Implement effective communication systems to connect Market Staff, General Managers, Market Area President, and Regional teams for stronger decision-making and execution.
- Ensure workforce planning, budget adherence and maintain a high-performance rating.
- Partner with HR and legal teams to ensure best-in-class employee experiences from onboarding through career development.
- Lead integration efforts for newly acquired businesses. Ensure seamless transitions before, during, and after acquisition.
- Oversee consolidated administrative functions such as batching/posting, A/P, A/R, travel expensing, membership billing and collections.
- Ensure IT systems support market operations effectively; manage integrations for new acquisitions.
- Collaborate closely with General Managers to support operational requirements and growth initiatives, while ensuring the Market Area President has visibility into major issues and successes.
Ideal Candidates Will Possess
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, shared services, or multi-unit business management.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
- Experience leading call center/dispatch, HR, or administrative operations strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
- Proven ability to manage change, drive efficiency, and deliver measurable results.
- Energetic, adaptable, and resourceful mindset, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to work onsite in Kansas City and travel across the Midwest Plains region as needed (estimated 30–40%).
