Job Description –Accountant-Operations Support

 

Mission of the Role:

The Accountant will be a critical team member within the organization, reporting directly to the Operational Controller.  He / she will have extensive involvement in establishing accounting controls and policies to support the Company as it grows.  The Accountant must have superior organization and communication skills, while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. He / she will have primary ownership of Inventory and Fleet related accounting tasks.  He / she will work closely with the Inventory Administration and Fleet Administration teams to record and review monthly reporting activity.  He / she will also work closely with the operational location General Managers and Market Area Presidents to develop, implement, teach, and monitor processes that streamline reporting. This individual will participate heavily in the month-end closing process for Southern Air, working closely with the Controller and with other Accountants to ensure financial reporting integrity. This role will also provide support to the broader accounting team by assisting with audit assistance, system implementation testing, and other special project work as needed.  The Accountant will also be highly involved in the year-end audit process for Southern Air by providing support as requested. The successful candidate must show great initiative and can work with limited supervision.  

 

 

Responsibilities:

The Accountant - Operations Support will play a key support role in ensuring accurate and auditable financial statements.   Job responsibilities include:

  • Review and record weekly / monthly invoices from Fleet Management companies. Ensure invoices are paid on time.
  • Perform monthly review of adjusting entries prepared by AP Supervisor
  • Record monthly deferred revenue activity
  • Prepare, distribute, and monitor various accounting analytics
  • Record various intercompany allocations
  • Calculate and record monthly franchise tax accrual for Texas locations
  • Review monthly Google pushdown entries and record on appropriate locations
  • Provide responses to location questions regarding financial statement results
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and income statement flux analysis
  • Utilize FloQast to ensure an accurate and timely month- and year-end close process
  • Assist with providing external auditors all requested materials, in conjunction with the annual financial statement audit
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and implement streamlined procedures where possible
  • Execute the individual and team goals that support strategic and operational initiatives
  • Contribute to team culture
  • Additional tasks as necessitated by company growth/transformation

 

Experience:

  • 4+ years of prior accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years public accounting experience
  • Strong excel skills
  • Ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language
  • CPA license a plus
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or accounting ERP implementations a plus

Travel: minimal

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
