General Manager in Training – Midwest Region
At Apex Service Partners, we’re offering a unique opportunity for a driven leader to develop alongside a top-performing General Manager and gain hands-on experience running a successful trades business before stepping into a General Manager role of your own.
You’ll start by owning a department within one of our most successful brands, where you’ll gain hands-on experience in managing operations, driving financial results, and leading people. Once ready, you’ll transition into a leadership role at a newly acquired brand, where you’ll play a key role in everything from hiring and team development to financial strategy, operational improvements and long-term growth.
We’re building a best-in-class leadership team across the Midwest including Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. This is a Midwest-based role with full relocation support provided based on the location of your opportunity and where your experience is the best fit.
Train under an experienced General Manager and learn Apex’s operating playbook
Take ownership of a department and lead day-to-day operations
Develop and execute strategies to drive key performance metrics
Deliver a “gold standard” of service through coaching, training, accountability and data-driven decision-making
Build a high-performance culture that fosters engagement, retention, and team development
Lead efforts to grow the team and create upward mobility through skill development and career pathing
Manage financial activities including budgeting and forecasting, with full accountability for P&L performance
Serve as a visible, hands-on leader, with daily in-person presence required in the Greater Chicago area during the training period
3+ years of experience leading teams
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Direct P&L ownership preferred, or strong operational exposure
Playbook-driven leadership style with a bias for action
Strong interpersonal, motivational and communication skills
High energy, adaptability, and a proven ability to deliver results
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Deep respect for the Skilled Trades or similar people-focused industries
